Design award for new vacuum pump
"iF product design award 2008" goes to Busch
Design prize for new vacuum pump
The new vacuum pump manufactured by Dr.-Ing. K. Busch GmbH has been awarded the international design prize "iFdesign award 2008".
Busch developed the rotary vane vacuum pump R 5 0160 E for vacuum packaging and other industrial applications, and it is already available on the market.
The new R 5 0160 E reaches a vacuum of 0.1 mbar and has a suction capacity of 145 cubic metres per hour. The extremely constant characteristic curve over almost the whole pressure range makes an effective suction capacity of 115 cubic metres per hour possible at a working pressure of 1 mbar. These vacuum pumps can be used in many areas. Main application fields are: vacuum packaging, surface treatment, metallurgy, solar industry, environmental technology, plastic processing and medical technology.
The "iF design award" has been a globally recognised trademark for excellent design for 54 years. The prize is awarded to new products annually by an expert jury, with the degree of innovation, choice of materials and processing being taken into account alongside the product design. Further aspects of evaluation are environmental compatibility, functionality, ergonomics and safety. The prize-winning vacuum pump will be on display at the "iF exhibition" on the Hanover Fair site for six months from March 2008. It will be on display there during the major CeBit and Hanover Fairs too.

Vacuum pumps and systems for resin injection
By using R 5 rotary vane vacuum pump, the Busch Company is offering the ideal pump for closing and evacuating moulds in resin injection procedures. R 5 vacuum pumps are available in a wide range of installation sizes from 3 to 1600 cubic metres per hour and can therefore be used in both very small and the largest of moulds. With a final pressure of 0.1 millibar corresponding to a vacuum of 99.99 per cent, R 5 vacuum pumps guarantee that the resin penetrates quickly and fully into the mould. Any air bubbles or gases forming are removed from the resin, thereby guaranteeing high product quality.
R 5 rotary vane vacuum pumps are designed for continuous use and are therefore very robust and fail-safe. The optional add-on activate carbon
filter prevents any odour emissions. Busch is internationally one of the largest manufacturers of vacuum pumps for all applications in the industry and has over 45 years experience in vacuum technology. R 5 rotary vane vacuum pumps have become the international standard in the processing of composites. Alongside the vacuum pumps, Busch also offers standardised vacuum systems consisting of one or more R 5 rotary vane vacuum pumps mounted on a vacuum container. These
vacuum systems have up to eight vacuum connections, to which the vacuum lines from one or more moulds can be connected. The vacuum required to close the mould can be drawn from one of these connections. Each connection has an independent vacuum control valve allowing the height of the vacuum to be individually adjusted at each point of the mould. The vacuum container guarantees the constant provision of sufficient suction capacity, even in the largest moulds. By using a vacuum container, there is the option of using a relatively small vacuum pump. This makes Busch vacuum systems a highly economical solution for guaranteed vacuum generation with the highest suction capacity. Busch vacuum systems are also compact and mobile and as such can be used flexibly wherever vacuum is required
